Industrial Robot Cells

What is it?

Industrial robot cells can be used to lift, manoeuvre and assemble parts, automating the manufacturing process almost entirely without human help on the factory floor.

Industrial robot cells may also have a ‘collaborative mode’ with reduced speeds and forces to allow a level of human interaction when necessary

Why would we need it?

Using a robot cell allows handling of larger, heavier and more cumbersome materials and higher speeds than robots running in collaborative mode, making them ideal for carrying out more dangerous and physically demanding jobs, as well as continuous repetitive actions that will increase yield.

What are the expected benefits and potential challenges?

Industrial robotic cells are the more familiar and recognisable end of automation, but as with robots running collaboratively, they depend on a well-defined process. With that in place, they can carry out some of the more rote parts of your team’s workflow and free them up to focus on more complex and satisfying jobs.

They are great at highly precise tasks like assembly lines, machining, picking, placing and packing – any situation where an identical action needs to happen over and over again.

Although these cells can have larger and more complex robots this can create huge gains in productivity and safety, there can be costs involved in their upkeep and the systems involved to run them.
