Collaborative Robots

What is it?

Collaborative Robots (or “co-bots”) are designed to work alongside humans in a shared workspace, carrying out precise or repetitive tasks in support of manual work.

Why would we need it?

Co-bots are extremely flexible and easy to programme, and can be used for any number of different tasks that may distract a skilled employee from the more complex and cognitive parts of their job that demand intense focus.

What are the expected benefits and potential challenges?

Collaborative robots are designed with built-in safety features, such as force sensing, speed reduction, and collision detection, to ensure safe interaction with humans in the shared workspace. In combination with manual production data and digital twin technologies, they can radically reshape the workflow of individual production cells and have a massive impact on efficiency.

However, we often see co-bots that are purchased by enthusiastic production managers before they have the right smart manufacturing systems in place to get the most out of them. Talk to us about how we can help you avoid that trap and ensure that any money you spend on a collaborative robot starts creating value for you from day one.

How do we get started?

Collaborative Robots can be designed to support many different manufacturing roles – we work with Vikaso and RobCo to deliver application specific solutions.
